Thank You, Eldoret: A Recap of the Solace Cancer Walk & Run 2026

We walk for hope. We run for life. No cancer champion should walk alone.

On Saturday, 17 October 2026, Eldoret woke up early — and showed up. From the grounds of St. Scholastica Hospital to Bishop Korir Memorial Hall at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the streets filled with walkers, runners, survivors, caregivers, students, health workers, partners and families. Some came to race. Many came to remember. All of them came for one reason: no one should face cancer alone.

To every person who laced up, every volunteer who arrived before dawn, every nurse and clinician who offered a listening ear, every partner who believed in this vision, and every donor who gave what they could — thank you. You turned a morning into a movement.

A morning that carried more than footsteps

The Cancer Walk & Run is never just about the distance covered. It is about the conversations that happen along the way — the survivor who tells a neighbour, “Go for screening, it saved my life”; the young man who learns that prostate screening is simply a blood test, not the frightening procedure he had heard about; the mother who realises that cervical screening takes only a few minutes and can be done privately and gently.

Long before the flag-off, our free medical camp on 15 & 16 October at CUEA, Eldoret opened its doors for cervical and prostate screening. People who had delayed for years finally walked in. That, too, is victory.

What your steps made possible

Every registration, every shared poster, every shilling contributed goes towards supporting 100 vulnerable cancer patients with SHA cover and medication, while empowering survivors economically. The impact of that Saturday will keep unfolding in clinics, homes and workplaces long after the banners are packed away.

Watch the day again

If you were there, you will spot familiar faces. If you were not, here is a glimpse of what community looks like when it decides to care out loud.

Thank you

To our partners and sponsors: your support carried this event. To our medical teams: you turned a fun morning into a lifeline. To our volunteers: you are the quiet engine of everything we do. To every participant: you are the reason the message travelled further than any poster ever could.

And to every cancer champion — those with us and those we carry in memory — this was for you.
