Come and be part of it — you are needed
On Saturday 17 October 2026 we walk and run together for every cancer champion in Eldoret. Whether you walk, run, or simply show up to cheer, you are telling someone in our community: you are not alone.
Let us clear up the fears
Many people stay away from screening because of stories they have heard. Let’s put them to rest:
- “The test will hurt.” Screening is quick and gentle. Cervical screening takes only a few minutes with a soft swab, done privately by experienced female nurses. Most people describe it as mildly uncomfortable, never painful.
- “For men it means an inspection.” This is the biggest myth. For men, prostate screening is done with a PSA blood test — a routine blood draw from your arm, exactly like any other blood test. There is no undressing and no invasive examination.
- “Screening is for people who are already sick.” The opposite is true. Screening is for healthy people, to catch problems early when treatment is simplest and most successful.
- “Cancer is a curse, or a death sentence.” Cancer is a medical condition, not a punishment — and found early, many cancers are very treatable. Testing is a sign of strength and love for your family, not shame.
What happens at the free camp? (15 & 16 October)
- Cervical screening for women — quick, private and free.
- Prostate screening for men — the simple PSA blood test.
Bring a friend, a parent, a neighbour. Come early so we can attend to everyone.
Every step changes a life
By taking part you directly help support 100 vulnerable cancer patients with SHA cover and medication, while empowering survivors economically. Lace up your shoes, bring your family, and let’s show up strong together.
We walk for hope. We run for life. No cancer champion should walk alone.
